The Jane M. Reuter Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of providing first-semester, full-time seminary students with financial aid. In addition, final semester M.Div students are eligible for the scholarship. The value of the Jane M. Reuter Scholarship is one semester of tuition — equal to three classes.

The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to students to financially assist them with one seminary course for a degree at Virginia Beach Theological Seminary. If awarded the scholarship, the student will receive one tuition free 3-credit class.

The Keith H. Davey Military Scholarship was established as a result of a generous gift from the Missions To Military organization, in honor to its founder, the late Keith Davey. This scholarship is open to active duty, retired and veteran military personnel who are pursuing a Master of Divinity (MDiv) or Doctor of Ministry (DMin) degree for the purpose and goal of entering full-time pastoral, missionary, or chaplaincy ministry. The value of the Keith H. Davey Military Scholarship is one semester of tuition — equal to three classes. Qualified individuals are eligible for this scholarship for each semester of enrollment.

The spouse of any full-time student may take classes tuition free. The spouse of any part-time student may take classes 50% off of the regular tuition rate. The student’s spouse must make application to the desired program, maintain the academic requirements prescribed for each program, and pay all related semester student fees.

This institution is approved to offer GI Bill® educational benefits by the Virginia State Approving Agency. Through the VA, entitled veterans may receive financial assistance for education.
In order to certify students for Veterans Benefits, the VBTS Financial Aid office asks that the veteran submit a Certificate of Eligibility (provided by VA after receipt of VA form 22-1990 or 22-1995). The Certificate of Eligibility can be emailed to or brought to the VBTS Office. Please submit this document at least one week prior to the start of the semester to receive tuition benefits prior to the payment due date.
Eligible Veterans are encouraged to apply with the VA using their online application. This will allow you to submit your application electronically for the fastest response. Below are the paper forms that may be submitted in lieu of the online application.

Active duty members of the military may be eligible for the Tuition Assistance (TA) educational benefit that will assist with the cost of tuition. Virginia Beach Theological Seminary is approved directly with the Department of Defense (DoD) to receive tuition assistance benefits from the various military branches.
Since each branch handles TA differently, contact your military branch for details on your eligibility and the process for submitting the TA form. Your approved TA form will need to be submitted to the Registrar at

Students seeking financial aid can apply for federal student loans to attend VBTS by completing the following steps.
1) Complete the VBTS Application
2) Complete the FAFSA Application
3) Complete the Student Initiated Packaging (SIP) registration.
