Eric J. Lehner
Readings in Cornelius Van Til is a course of study dedicated to reading the works of Van Til and the interpretation of his unique methodology in theology and apologetics. This course is delivered as a reading and research seminar. As a result of reading, research, writing, presentation, peer-review, and class discussion, the student will be able to a) read and understand Van Til in the context of his personal, academic, and ecclesiastical context; b) summarize the teaching of Van Til in select aspects of systematic theology and apologetics; c) demonstrate the ability to read the works of Van Til with a comprehension of the thesis and argumentation of a given work; d) summarize, analyze, and present the results of research on a particular aspect of Van Til’s thought; and e) apply the significance of the Van Til’s thought to one’s own personal spiritual growth and to the formation of ministry philosophy. 3 credit hours.
Dr. Eric Lehner is the Academic Dean and Professor of Theology at Virginia Beach Theological Seminary. He has taught at VBTS since 2005 in a variety of roles as Graduate Assistant, Assistant Professor of Historical Theology, and Associate Professor of Historical Theology. Dr. Lehner earned his academic degrees at Tennessee Temple (BA), Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv), Virginia Beach Theological Seminary (ThM), and Clark Summit University (PhD).
