FALL 2024 | 3 CREDIT HOURS | ONLINE ONLY

(NOTE: This description applies to the 2022 course offering; course requirements and text books are subject to change. Please contact Scott Rosen for more details.)

This course is designed to refine the student’s knowledge in theology specifically as it pertains to the application of theology to counseling issues and then to apply that knowledge to counseling scenarios. This will be accomplished by the student progressively working through each question of the Association of Certified Biblical Counselor (ACBC) Theology Exam as well as each question of the ACBC Counseling Exam

As a result of taking this course, the student will be able to demonstrate theological proficiency with respect to counseling issues which will serve as a foundation for honing discernment skills for analyzing various counseling scenarios. In addition, upon successful completion of this course the student will have in hand completed “first-draft” versions of both the theology exam and the counseling exam. The student can then use these first draft version to submit it to an ACBC official grader in partial fulfillment of the exam requirements for Phase 2 of the ACBC certification. 3 credits.

Prerequisite: 5102 Introduction to Biblical Counseling; 6120 Marriage and Family Advanced Counseling Issues, 7121 Issues in Biblical Counseling.
